12 days / 11 nights – small group journey (max. 6 women)
With female tour leader from/to Kilimanjaro International Airport This 12-day journey through Northern Tanzania combines safari, nature and selected insights into local life in a small, personally accompanied group.
The route takes us through Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Lake Eyasi and the Serengeti, complemented by activities such as a walking safari, canoe tour, visits with the Hadzabe and Datoga, a local women’s group and a cooking experience with ingredient shopping in small local shops.
The program is varied and leaves space for quiet moments.
Day 1 – Arrival | Kilimanjaro – Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we will personally welcome you at the airport.
We drive together to Arusha to Meru Nest Boutique Bed & Breakfast, where we arrive in a quite and green environment and have time to relax after the journey.
In the evening, we meet for dinner, get to know each other and prepare for the days ahead.

Day 2 – Arusha National Park
To begin the journey, we explore Arusha National Park. In the morning, we start with a guided walking safari to a waterfall (approx. 2 hours). Afterwards, we continue with a game drive through the park.
Arusha National Park is known for its diverse landscapes and for species we will not see in the other parks of the journey, including black-and-white colobus monkeys. We also pass the well-known Fig Tree Arch.
At midday, we enjoy a picnic at a scenic viewpoint. In the afternoon, we continue the game drive before returning to Arusha in the late afternoon.

Day 3 – Mulala & Lake Duluti
In the morning, we visit the Agape Women group in the village of Mulala at the foothills of Mount Meru. We gain insights into daily life and learn about different activities such as cheese and bread making, seed and chili cultivation, and traditional honey harvesting.
In the afternoon, we head to Lake Duluti. During a nature walk (approx. 1.5 hours), we bypass two view points (for Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro) before ending the day with a canoe ride at sunset.

Day 4 – Tarangire National Park
Today we drive towards Tarangire National Park. After arrival, we go on our first game drive. The park is known for large elephant herds, open landscapes and iconic baobab trees.
We enjoy a picnic lunch in the park.
In the afternoon, we continue the game drive before heading to our lodge outside the park. Osupuko Lodge is located on an elevated position overlooking the savannah, where elephants can often be seen directly from the pool.

Day 5 – Tarangire National Park
Today we spend the full day in Tarangire National Park.
We explore different areas of the park and have time for extended game drives. With a bit of luck, we may see lions, giraffes, zebras and various antelope species, as well as large elephant herds.
The birdlife is also diverse, including ostriches, hornbills and hoopoes.
We enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. In the afternoon, we continue the game drive before returning to the lodge.

Day 6 – Karatu & Local Market
After breakfast, we drive into the highlands around Karatu. On the way, we visit a local market where fresh produce, spices and everyday goods are sold.
This offers a glimpse into daily life in the region. We then continue to our lodge in Karatu. The afternoon is at leisure – time to arrive, relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Day 7 – Journey to the Serengeti
Today we drive towards the Serengeti. The route leads through the Ngorongoro highlands before gradually opening up into the wide plains of the Serengeti. We begin game viewing along the way, with opportunities to spot wildlife before reaching our camp in the afternoon.
Overnight: Mbuni Tented Camp, Serengeti
Day 8 – Serengeti National Park
Today we spend the full day in the Serengeti. We go on extended game drives across the open plains and explore different areas of the park.
With some luck, we may see lions, cheetahs or leopards, as well as large herds of zebras and wildebeest.
We enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. In the afternoon, we continue the game drive before returning to camp.
Overnight: Mbuni Tented Camp, Serengeti
Day 9 – Return to Karatu
In the morning, we go on another game drive in the Serengeti. Afterwards, we drive back to the highlands near Karatu, with further opportunities for wildlife viewing along the way.
We stop at the Ngorongoro View Point with views into the crater and at the Grzimek Memorial, which commemorates the conservation of the Serengeti.

Day 10 – Lake Eyasi | Hadzabe & Datoga
Return to Arusha Early in the morning, we drive to Lake Eyasi.
We visit the Hadzabe and Datoga and gain insights into their way of life.
While the Hadzabe live as hunter-gatherers, the Datoga are known for their craftsmanship, particularly metalwork. Afterwards, we return to Arusha.
Arrival in the late afternoon.

Day 11 – Village Walk & Cooking
Today we stay in Arusha. In the morning, we take a village walk around Meru Nest and gain insights into local life.
Afterwards, we shop for fresh ingredients in small local shops and prepare traditional dishes together during a cooking class.
The afternoon is at leisure.
Optionally, there is the opportunity to visit the Maasai Market.
In the evening, we meet for a farewell dinner.

Day 12 – Serval Wildlife & Departure
After breakfast, we drive to Serval Wildlife Sanctuary.
Here we have time to observe rescued animals in a natural environment. The concept allows close encounters and unique photography opportunities in a calm setting.
In the late afternoon, we drive directly from Serval to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Tour Leader – Katja
I will accompany the group from arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport until departure and will be your main point of contact throughout the journey. I worked for many years in Germany for different Africa tour operators and hold a degree as a tourism specialist. Since 2025, I have been living in Tanzania and know the region from both a professional and personal perspective. During the trip, I ensure that everything runs smoothly and assist with all organizational matters. Together with Daniel, I run Meru Nest in Arusha, which will be one of our accommodations during the journey.
Safari Guide – Daniel
During the safari, we will be accompanied by Daniel, who has been working as a professional guide in Tanzania for over 15 years. He has extensive knowledge of the national parks and wildlife and knows where and when animals can best be observed. At the same time, he provides insights into nature, culture and everyday life in Tanzania. The combination of local expertise and personal tour leadership ensures a well-organized and truly personal travel experience.
